This 7 mile segment will test your ability to manage punchy climbs and to still hold a hard pace in between. The gallery below talks you through the route and the important landmarks and turns. I’ve also made a video for you (see below) to help with recon. My advice on pacing is to try to dance between VO2max on the hills and threshold on the flats. The road surface is very high quality until the start of Ann Marie, but even then, there are no potholes to watch out for. The only concerning feature of the course is a rumble strip on the side of Robert Trail. Watch out for that as it looks like you can ride to the right of it in some parts, but there are spots where that is not possible. Be aware of traffic and consider taking the lane when you need to. My experience is that traffic is really light on this course, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
